Profi Eco 55. Drum not rotating.
Urgent!
PLEASE HELP ME!
The noisy "spray" part of the (my) Profi's cycle usually lasts 17 seconds.
Yesterday at one of those points I was alerted by the noise that the spray bar was running continuously. But without the drum rotating. I was able to confirm that the level sensors were also functioning. (This all runs via a single supply to the Profi's Control Panel.)
I tried all obvious "stop - start" combinations throughout the evening. The drum just would not rotate.
I had to leave drum and pump switched OFF overnight.
8 hours later, and when I switched the drum on again, it rotated!
And has subsequently been operating as expected.
I urgently NTK how this could have occurred, please, - and is a recurrence likely?
(We are about to go away for 17 days, and my fish would not survive a repeat.)

Just what you need as your about to depart for your hols. I dont have a drum yet but could there have been a bit of grit or debris in the gear mechanism. Could it need a little lubricating.

Is it possible the bolt that secures the drum to the shaft coming from the motor has come loose?

Thanks John, Andy and Tiny for responding.
All circuits have been tested. The drum remains static, although the motor can be heard humming.
The gear box has failed and will have to be replaced.
Unwittingly I positioned the unit too close to the wall of my bio-chamber, and so the entire unit will have to be removed, including all cabling and pipework. All future installers take heed!
Meanwhile. I have by-passed the pre-filter by removing two plates on the rear of the drum, leaving the K1 to cope alone, and which it is doing remarkably well.
We're away for over two weeks from tomorrow, followed by spinal surgery immediately upon my return (with 6 weeks of "do nothing" afterwards).
Looks like a long and hungry haul for my fish!

Seen something similar a couple of times.... and it wasn't the gearbox.
What I would suggest is that you loosen the set screws that secure the shaft onto the drum drive flange..
Then try and turn the drum manually on the shaft .. It can get stuck if there is an obstruction underneath, in one case a cable tie had somehow got in and wedged in a roller, another time it was a temperature probe...
Second test is with the set screws undone see if the shaft turns when you run the motor..
Some of the shafts have flats on the shaft which the set screws locate but couple that I have played with that had this problem had drilled holes, after sorting to put it back together you can find these and get things lined up with a fine screwdriver..
Let me know how this goes, if there is an obstruction to get to it may involve removing the screens which with a little care is an easy job and takes around 30 minutes..

Away now for weeks.
I'd like to add that notwithstanding this problem, I still think that the Profi Drum is a great bit of kit. Think I've just been unlucky!
Jan at ProfiDrum has been most responsive. Thank you, Jan.
