The importance of a skimmer
I didn't think it was that important when building our pond, but pleased I put one in,I'm only using filter wool and a 4000lph pump,so doesn't have to be expensive
But the results are really good even with filter wool,so with a separate filter on the skimmer line results will be improved
This is after less than 12 hours

That's the same for me, amazing what filter wool takes out isn't it.
I find my skimmer comes into its own after a blanket weed treatment, saves a lot of dead weed ending up in the filter.Alias PWNN - Steve

Hi all
I remember when I first got my sieve I couldn't believe how much crap they pick up it really opened my eyes .
i had a vortex with bushes in and it just gave me a total different a look on the filter action aspects of the hobby.
i still run a vortex but also have a sieve with the bakki shower and it always seems better at collecting the crap .

I think a skimmer is an absolute must for a koi pond , if you don't have one you will have a skin on the top of the water where dust settles and its like looking at your koi through a dirty window

Agreed - I get a lot of leaves and other tree related debris - skimmer keeps the pond surface nice and clean.
