Need a little lift off to start,
hey guys, so the questions have started, ha
do a little drawin for the pond filter to other day,
4" bottom drain
skimmer
both gravity then connector together and the into ......
either a sieve and nexus easy pod,
or a 210
or 310
then pump into a uv and back into the pond,
whish is is the best option for me,
i was under the impression of a 8000 litre pond needed at 16000 lph pump then a 24000 filter station, if this is right then I would need a 310, but would a sieve and easy pod work? Goin to safe up or do credit card so if I have to wait to get the right gear then so be it,
thanks

It is difficult to say what is best without much more information, but on an 1800gallon (8000ltr) pond, a pump turning over 3500gallons (16000ltrs) which is a turnover of approx. 1/2 an hour and with a nexus is probably a lot too much, as you need some dwell time with K1 etc. You would only need that kind of turnover with shower filtration. You have to remember that a nexus is only another type of container for K1, and really is no different to any multibay or container with K1, which all need a good dwell time to ensure that the bacteria can do its work.

Thanks for your reply,
what information more would be required? Would you say get a smaller pump?
the bottom drain is goin to be gravity, the pumped after the filter,
thanks again ,

Interesting recent debate on dwell time here:

Need a little lift off to start,
You'd only be marginally over the recommended flow rate of a Nexus 320 at 16000, max recommended flow is 13000lph and you won't get 16000 out of a pump rated at 16000 anyway by the time you've added some pipe and head you'll probably be lucky to get 12000 IMO.

Just had a look and lots of differing thoughts on the subject, and as we all probably know already there is no absolutely correct parameter for filtration.
My take on it though is if you have a 2000g pond and a 4000gph pump then all the pond water will go through or circulate in 1/2 hour. If you have an 8000g pond then obviously with the same size pump the water will take 2 hours, so instead of 'dwell' time maybe it should be called 'throughput' time?
Then we come to the filter size ie if we say a multibay was 4ft long the water would be through in a certain time (can't work out how long) but if the multibay was 20ft long then the water would be in the filter much longer at the same pumping rate, so 'dwelI' time or 'through time' the longer one would obviously be more efficient, but that depends obviously on just how much media you have in the filters....
So as its already been said everything relies on many parameters, and not just pump rates, so maybe the only way to be sure is to turn the pump up and down to change the 'through' time and check if the ammonia/nitrite changes...but ain't going to do it! Lol

Thanks again
Looks like a lot of work is goin into just thinking never mind building ha
Looks like nexus 210/310 is the way to go,

I would argue the length makes no difference other than the amount of media it could hold. If it was twice as wide or twice as high that would make it able to reduce ammonia / nitrite in the pond more as the water would pass through the filter more slowly therefore you could pass more water through it before you get to a water speed that disturbs the bacteria.
I may not be right (but I think I am )

I would stick to your first idea of a second hand 310, at least you know they work well, and you will get all the information you want about it on here as well, lots of people have them. Like the others, I have never heard of a 'super aqua clean'.

For me Theres not enough info on that to even consider it for that price. it looks like a sieve by the pics/dimensions but it states media? Doesnt say what media. Might be worth going and having a proper look at it to see what it has to it and how it works? But i would be very dubious. Just my opinion mate.

Had a little look yesterday, now I'm not even a pond beginner I'm not that good yet ha it had the k1 moving filter media in it with a built in pump of 8000 lph not sure if it's enough to be honest with a 70l air pump to move it all,
Being honest would you just get a nexus 200/210 then get a shower filter or sieve ?
Or just a nexus alone?

Well that answers that question, any other ideas? cant make shed any bigger an there's no room outside for it, gardens not the biggest,
ive seen the filter working on 3 ponds in 2 different shops, looks good to b honest and the size is nice, as said before I'm no pro like, only thing gets me is weather the 8000liter pump will be big enough, it's goin to be gravity fed like so it's only the return

pug has a very impressive veg filter on his pond, have a look at some of his his youtube videos....
