Koi food again
Hi all
cant decide between
QK ultimate koi £86 for 15kg
koyoshi probiotic £89 for 15kg
Saki balance £174 for 15kg
NT Labs probiotic £170 for 15kg
Ive tried NT Labs a lot and like it with minimal waste.
Tried QK last year thought it was ok but did mess my water up when feeding heavy.
Might try mixing the 2 this year. Start the summer off at around 200g - 300g a day then feed up to around 400g - 500g a day from August onwards.
Whats everyone one else doing this year?

I always say that the only difference I've ever noticed in the mid to high price range of koi pellets is the amount of waste created.
Over the years I think I've tried most of the common pellets and have settled on Kusuri Premium at around £85 for 15kg, I haven't got show quality fish but I'm fairly sure the top of the range pellets made absolutely no difference to the health, growth or colours of my fish.
I also feed fresh fruit, lettuce and dried mealworms as a supplement to the pellets more to give them some variety than anything.Alias PWNN - Steve

Hi thanks good price from Coastal.
I believe I have some good quality fish, spent 3k on a nice Kohaku at KWB last month,
after last summer I noticed a massive difference in waste after the drum which was being caught by the bead filter when I tried QK. Went straight back to Medikoi Prebiotic and noticed a big difference I believe they suffered a little because of it too. Stupid flukes reared their head and I struggled to get rid of them.
Which is why I thought of mixing them to help with the thickness of wallet.
But then £60 more and I can use Saki Balance, just never tried it before, or Koyoshi, which is why I asked.
Cheers

It's just my personal experience, I know Saki Hikari comes highly recommended and I'm certainly not knocking it but I feel the pellets I now use at around half the cost give me the same results as the more expensive ones I've tried.
Perhaps my mutts are just not good enough for the alleged improvement top of the price range foods provide.Alias PWNN - Steve

I think this year I will be mainly using saki hikari balance and growth. It always pays to shop around for the best deals on food. You will always pay through the nose for small amounts.

never had a problem with qk food. I know its coppens but its improved a hell of a lot since the old days to get me off hikari. stopped using hikari growth because it does tinge the water. multiseason and balance are equally good aswell.
just started mixing QK ultimate sinking to the're jap mix, really been happy with the jap mix waste and cost wise.

I completely agree, I used to use Saki but decided to try QK last year and will now use it again this year. I found that it created no more waste than the Saki, so just happy now that I am saving a fair bit of money! What I use for summer is Jap mix and colour enhancer with a little sinking mixed together, and the colour of my fish has never been better.

Like pwnn i have tried a lot of different foods, must say saki was great but cost too much and my koi are not great quality i just enjoy them, been using Qk for three years now or should i say coppens.
But going to try a different supplier who have coppens growth 45% protein for £45 delivered, but he has run out for the moment, anyone interested he is Purepellets on ebay, sells a lot of fishing pellets.
I have found coppens ok,very clean no dust etc but i think it does put a faint brown tint in the water, for that price i cant complainJohn
