You can actually dismantle the heater completely by undoing the 4 bolts and taking off the plastic end caps.

Just make a note of each part removed and how it comes off and go carefully with the seals. You can expose the element and you could then clean it with limescale remover.
I only know this as this is what I did with my heater when I first got it (as it had been used before) and has worked a treat ever since.
    1630 Gallon raised pond
    4" 'Avenue' bottom drain
    Estro sieve
    Econobead EB60 bead filter
Sequence 18000 pump, 6000 pump on skimmer line
    Elecro 2kW in-line heater
    Evolution Aqua 70 air pump
    Standard wall skimmer
    Hozelock Vorton 55watt UV
    and some nice koi

Oh yes and does anyone know if it's ok to use pp on heater as a final treatment before installing?

You could do, although I didn't go that far with mine.

Once it was cleaned, I just reassembled and it was plumbed in, no PP treatment required.

    Good luck

I think if you where going to clean it with lime scale remover I think you would also kill everything else so you wouldnt have any parasites or anything especially as it has also been out of water for a while?

You could just try not to take it apart and clean it in one piece? Which wires are you trying to remove? Or is that the Brocken one at the bottom :0

There's a saying that goes " if it ain't broke don't fix it " lol

i think its now a case of its now broke best fix it . you may have to do some soldering on that wire mate . i only hope you not messed the element up as they cost around 80 pound. but you can get a smaller one to fit it say 2kw or 3kw as there the same size fitting. you would need the serial number and ring elecro direct for any parts needed mate, but their very helpful. good luck
