Bakki/zakki showers
Can somebody explain what the idea is behind the bakki/zakki showers over conventional filtration....

The main difference in the design is that, unlike the Bakki Shower, which utilizes a series of trays below one another, the Zakki shower only has one tray. It is a single-level filter that can handle between 8-15,000gph.

This looks interesting - a gravity fed zakki shower to use after a drum. Clever design.

That's amazing. I wouldn't use Cermedia in it though.

Very innovative indeed, i cant help feeling its a very big old unit though for the actual amount of media it will hold though. Foot print being a primary thing on modern filters but i do really like the design and idea behind it.

Just got a price for the Zakki gravity fed. $2000 without media plus shipping to add from the states. That's the price for the one shown in the video. The chap sounded good and said they can be made to suit your flow requirements and desired volume of media. Just thinking this would end up more expensive than the usual bakki.
i love the idea but maybe too deep for my pockets!
just thought I'd share in case others are interested.
Thanks.

It uses Cermedia (a ceramic media). Some people have had issues with the media creating a fine powder in the pond (and gradually eroding)- something that doesn't happen with BHM. It is a bit cheaper though.
