There were no good choices to be made........
It's a sad tale really but as my title suggests I was between a rock and a hard place. The awesome new pond had just been filled to test it out and all looked fantastic. There were no filters hooked up as yet then 2 things happened, the first was a major structural failure on the old pond containing my fish it was about to burst all over the grass !!! The second thing was I was called away to work.
So what to do leave the fish in the old damaged filtered pond or move them but no time to hook up filters? It was late December and cold as so I moved them. They looked ok in there no dramas, off to work.....10 days later I am back to a disaster. 10 dead 5 limping, in the following days I lost 3 more.
This is the first time I suffered a major loss in 20 odd years so I must be doing something right.

No I did not take any photos but it was an above ground construction with a liner and the corners were failing. It was originally only temporary but lasted nearly 10 years. So not bad really just a bad time to fail
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
