What is this?
What is this anyone?
I treated this two weeks ago with as a graze, dried it cleaned it and then sealed it with propolis
he was showing stress today and flashing and jumping so popped him out to inspect and found this!
It looks like a flesh eating bacteria?
What are my options people?
Youve helped me a lot recently so I really do appreciate the help

I couldn't get Rocal at my local lfs but I read hydrogen peroxide was just as good so I gave it a good clean and sealed with propolis
my pond is sitting at 16c now
I only treated it two weeks ago as a graze

Thing with sealing wounds is you need to make sure you clean it thoroughly or you could trap bad bacteria in it.
May need swabs and antibiotic injections.

Thanks guys, I need to learn how to knock out a fish and treat properly, me and the misses make a good team but like you say I need to be thorough
where would I get injections from and what injections would I need? Last thing where would I put the injection on the fish?
Sorry for the questions
I only treated two weeks ago as it was only a graze and thought it would heal up but now it's turned into this :-(

Hi, as its on skin and not scales, one application of PP paste will knock this on the head.
If of course you water is good and no parasites. Slightly warmer water would help also.

Hi
little bit of PP, and a little water, and give it a stir.
No need to seal after, just apply the watered down PP, let it dry and put the fish back. Careful not to get any in the gills.
Only use it with mouth problems or areas with skin, it's too harsh for scaled areas in my experience.
Temps of 15 and above will help healing.
Good luck
Dave

A vet would need to see the koi first and it would not be cheap to do this.
I have used a PP solution on mouth rot which didn't require any further treatments.
Dead tissues will need removing first or again it won't heal.

You will be fine. Ideally have 2 bowls, one foe sedation and one for recovery ideally floating in the pond with an air stone in it. By floating the recovery bowl in the pond it allows it to be released without netting or handling it again.
