Anyone made one?

Timer, archimedes screw, small motor and a few gears - can't be that difficult...

Hi Dave,

I have had more auto feeders than you can shake a stick at mate if i could have the money i have wasted i would be well pleased

Are thinking of one for the main pond or growing on system ?

Mark at cuttlebrook mad some up a few years ago and they was of the screw type which i think had a motor and this was turning very slowly so food would just trickle in when switched on.

Hi Dave,

I have thought about making my on demand feeder into an auto feeder. To do this all I plan to do is fit a central door locking motor from a car to the underside of the feeder where the trap door is, when the motor is triggered the trap door will open and release the food, when it's powered down the trap door will close. I will get round to having a play with this idea when I get time. Just an idea for you to mull over

Thanks for that Guys,

I am thinking an inverted T with screw drive along the bottom direct driven by a low voltage motor.

Hopper feed into the top of the inverted T.

Motors are cheap as chips as are timers, sourcing of the right screw will be a bit more of a hunt.

When I get the other bits done then it seems like a project.
