    Koi caught in fishing wire

    Hi,
I have just got home to find one of my Koi caught in a fishing line that had a thermometer attached to (it has now been removed!)
He has lost a lot of scales and judging by the lily leaves near him has put up quite a struggle but I can't see any other damage other than the missing scales.
He did swim off when freed but is now on the bottom. Do I need to treat him to avoid any infection?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd leave it alone for a while and let it calm down and regain its confidence, it's obviously had a bit of an ordeal and will be stressed so a bit of peace and quiet will do it good.

The only thing I would add is to test your water and make sure it's in optimum condition .... that will give best chances of the fish healing itself without infection ...

I had a koi that swallowed the fishing line on my thermometer and every time the fish swam down the thermometer went down too. It was very similar to the scene from Jaws with the buoy.
